Description
Life in the black communities of London as seen through the eyes of a number of women, most of whom came to England as children and grew up here. Through personal accounts, poetry and music the film looks at various aspects of autonomous black culture, from Carribean cooking to kung-fu, and at the every day realities of racism and how each woman confronts them.
This film made in 1981 reflects the cultural attitudes and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. This should not diminish its value as a historic record and anthropological interest for traditional healthcare.
