Description

This World in Action programme examines the loopholes in British law which allow people, especially wealthy powerful people to build what they like even in the “green belts”. Counillors claim that developers are using more and more dubious tactics to obtain sites, even resorting to threatening letters. As some 75,000 acres of British countryside disappears under concrete each year, can we afford to ignore this?

This film made in 1987 reflects the political arrangements of the time and may not reflect modern policies. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards but is useful for historical use.
