A fascinating study of seven-year-old children from vastly differing backgrounds, and their responses to the same questions: on their ambitions (“I want to be an astronaut, but if I can’t be an astronaut I want to be a coach-driver”), attitudes to coloured people, the opposite sex and marriage, etc. Their education is described briefly in each case and this and their home background have obvious bearing on the answers they give. See also ‘Seven Plus Seven’, ‘Twenty One’ and ‘Twenty Eight Up’.
This film was made in 1964 in black and white, so the film and sound quality is not to modern standards. This should not diminish its value as a historic record.
