Description

The monsters are the dark secrets which lurk in the minds of children who have been sexually abused. Child therapist Madge Bray’s ambition is to get rid of the ‘monsters’ and through play (which is how all small children communicate) and through painting and drawing she helps them find a language to describe and come to terms with those dark secrets. This film is a record of a weekend course for professionals to help them explore and come to terms with the terrible dilemmas they have to face when dealing with sexually abused children.
Made in 1988 this film reflects the cultural attitudes, medical procedures and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. But the issues raised may be timeless.
