Description
In 1984 a nation-wide campaign was started to reduce or end illiteracy. Local centres were started and there was a T.V. publicity campaign with lessons. Up to 80,000 volunteers were recruited. Wishing the first three years there were 125,000 people who had received help. They had, for one reason or another, fallen behind and never caught up. Life had been difficult as they had had to conceal their illiteracy.
A useful piece for archival use.
