Description
Part of the ‘Home from Home’ series, this programme shows how many Muslims worked in the textile industry in Spitalfields, and were poorly paid. They felt trapped by both their poverty and their colour, immigration laws separated them from their families, and they felt like exploited outcasts. Of historical interest.
Many Bangladeshi Moslems have settled in Spitalfields, partly because of hostility towards them, but housing is in short supply and not much help is given by the authorities. Many families feel frightened of being attacked even in their own homes.
