This film is made up of five brief vignettes which illustrate the psychological impact of the loss of work on couples, individuals and professionals employed to help them. The training pack consists of the video, the book from which its material is drawn — “Work, Love and Marriage: The Impact of Unemployment” by Janet Mattinson (Duckworth, 1988) — and teaching notes.
Its aim is to promote thought and discussion around the psychological impact of unemployment. It will be of interest to a wide range of professionals including social workers, probation officers, health visitors, counsellors, doctors, nurses and lawyers, as well as to their teachers and trainees.
