Description

The first of two ‘care and management’ films within this series, the second film being episode number 4 which were made in association with Hester Adrian Unit in Manchester. A psychologist shows in detail how to develop the capabilities of children with learning disabilities in specific tasks – walking, feeding, dressing, fine motor play and language development. Basic guidelines and principles are demonstrated which could be used as a basis for tackling a variety of tasks.

This film made in 1977 reflects the cultural attitudes and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. But the issues raised are still relevent to today.
