Description
NIREX, the Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive, are responsible for disposing of large quantities of low level radioactive waste, and suggest that an area near the village of Elstow in Bedfordshire is suitable for burying it. The villagers disagree, and organised a debate between NIREX and conservationists. The problem is, if they succeed in stopping the scheme there, will some other area have to have it? The programme raises many awkward questions relating to Britain’s current energy policy.
Although made some years ago the issues raised are still current.
