On March 23, 1984, a young British civil servant was sentenced to six months in prison for disclosing secret documents to a daily newspaper. She maintained that revealing the documents, which dealt with the arrival of cruise missiles into the UK, was in the public interest. The film includes interviews with Sarah Tisdall and other men and women who have risked prison or loss of their jobs for revealing information to the media. One top civil servant in the Ministry of Defence, called such people corrupt, but are they if they consider they are acting in the public interest? Where does one’s first consideration lay?
