This “Open Door” program investigates the volatile events of April 23rd in Southall, ignited by a National Front meeting in the Asian community. The film documents allegations of brutal police action, S.P.G. vandalism, and the resulting arbitrary arrests and harsh sentencing of local citizens.

Description

An ‘Open Door’ programme which attempts to show what happened in Southall on 23rd of April, when the National Front held a meeting in a predominantly Asian area. Allegations of brutal police actions against the local people are made and shown, a local immigrant community centre was said to be vandalised by the S.P.G. (Special Police Group). Arbitrary arrests of local citizens were made and heavy fines and sentences handed down by magistrates at Barnet Court.
