The film concentrates on the movement to stop female infanticide in Tamil Nadu, where an NGO, URISE, organises precessions and gifts in honour of the baby girl, which makes it more difficult for the mother to kill her baby. .
Made in 1999 this film reflects the cultural attitudes of the country and language of the time it was made. The issues raised are timeless. The film quality may not be to modern standards.
