Social workers in Liverpool cope with a variety of cases – a father wants to be able to make a home for his children who are in care; a woman wants her ailing mother to go into an old people’s home; a woman suffering a nervous breakdown locks herself in her fiat. The film makes the point that it is people like these who will suffer when the social services are cut back: but they are already strained to the limit
This film is of historical interest and reflects the cultural attitudes of the time it was made. But the issues raised are timeless.
