Description

The origins of the student movement in the United States have never been explored in film or video until this half hour documentary. A confrontation between Berkeley student pickets and police at City Hall in San Francisco in May, 1960 had reverberations around the world. Filmmakers Sharon Genasci and Bill Goetz attended the 25th reunion of SLATE, the student political party at Berkeley who organised the pickets. Archival footage, previously unpublished photographs and reunion footage are utilised to explore the people and events that started the 60’s.

This film is of historical interest and reflects the cultural attitudes of the country in which it was made and language of the time it was made. But the issues raised are timeless.
