Junk food makes children more vulnerable to disease later in life.
A survey by the Department of Health has shown that children's meals and snacks consist mainly of chips, cakes and biscuits, which crowd out essential foods. The high fat and sugar content makes today's children more vulnerable to heart disease, obesity and some forms of cancer in later life. The damage caused by diet in childhood is thought to be irreversible.
