Description

AIDS is hard to get. To get the virus in your blood stream, you have to put it there by sharing needles or by having sex with someone who has the virus. This pioneering film, hosted by actress Rae Dawn Chong, tells young people what they need to know to avoid getting this deadly disease. It describes what AIDS is, how it can and cannot be transmitted, and provides peer support for modifying at-risk behaviour. Stresses the positive alternative of abstinence, and so is appropriate for younger teenagers. It also promotes understanding of those who are infected with the AIDS virus. See also ‘Sex, Drugs and AIDS”.

This film made in 1987 reflects the medical understanding and language of the time it was made, it remains useful for archival use.
