Gender differences are also a cause in health disparity. Nowadays women are more likely to become smokers than men and are more likely to suffer the consequent associated diseases. The film follows ten women through their everyday lives to try and pinpoint their reasons for smoking. Often it is seen as a solution to social problems for which society offers no easy escape.
Made in 1984 this film reflects the cultural attitudes of the country and language of the time it was made. The issues raised are timeless. The film quality may not be to modern standards.
