Description
Janet is 36 and a resident in a hostel for mentally handicapped adults. She is a Jehovah’s Witness, having joined with her mother some years previously. She and Stephen would like to marry, but recieve little support. Her mother doesn’t take the idea seriously, the hostel staff humour her, hoping it will blow over, and the Jehovah’s witnesses oppose it on the grounds that Stephen is not ‘in the Lord.’ The unusual tape is, in content, directed by Janet Parker herself. She wanted to make a video about her relationship with Stephen, and her involvement with the Jehovah’s Witness church, but there was opposition from her family and the hostel staff.
The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards but is useful for historical use.
