Description

Shortages of oil and natural gas, rising costs of power and world population growth have combined to stimulate an intensive search for alternate energy sources for the next century. This United Nations film deals with three of the most important – solar energy, geothermal energy and thermo-nuclear fusion. Solar possibilities range from house heating to vast power farms and even satelite power stations, Geothermal resources are seen as a great boon to fossil fuel-poor nations such as El-Salvador. And sophisticated fusion research is going on in fifty laboratories around the world, including Princeton University’s Plasma Physics Lab, as part of the pursuit for energy sources for the future.

The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards but is useful for historical use.
