Description
The film looks at the life and work of E. F. Schumacher, author of Small is Beautiful. This Canadian film was shot partly in England where Schumacher and George McRobie of the Intermediate Technology Institute discuss and illustrate Schumacher’s ideas. Additional filming to contrast large scale and intermediate technology experiments was completed in Newfoundland. The film reflects the broad visions of the author which have continued to gain an ardent following around the world, despite his death.
This film is of historical interest and reflects the cultural attitudes and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. But the issues raised are timeless.
