Description

The expression ‘open’ government and a relation of the secrecy which surrounds much of the local and central government is a concept which in the recent past both major parties have paid lip service to, but they seem to show very little willingness really to improve the situation. In the USA there is more access to information since Watergate. This film discusses different aspects of official secrecy in Britain on the issues ranging from government over-expenditure to nuclear power. Could be used in discussions about the real meaning of the word ‘democracy’. Is it more than a vote every four years?

This film reflects the political arrangements of the time, it does not necessarily reflect modern policy but is a useful historic record.
