Description
In Guinea Bissau, a former Portuguese colony, not enough rice is being produced to meet the people’s needs so 30% of the rice consumed has to be imported. This causes the country to become more and more in debt. The government’s plans for self-sufficiency are met with suspicion, because of traditions. But when a few families find they can grow two crops a year instead of just one, the other people are more interested. The plan is to form co-operatives so all can benefit equally.
