Description
During after the second World War, rickets was virtually eradicated in the United Kingdom. Early in the 1960’s it began to reappear. Rickets is a disease of the bone resulting from a deficiency in Vitamin D and the new outbreak seems to have resulted from a diet deficient in this vitamin. The problem is particularly prevalent within the Asian community. The “World in Action” report looks at suggested preventative measures which could be taken and discusses with doctors and a representative of the Minister of the Health whether these measures should be taken.
