Social workers in Karachi, Pakistan, helping many different people. Maulana Abdus Sattar Edhi and his wife Bilquis are social workers in Karachi, Pakistan. They try to help victims of homelessness, destitution, disease and drug addiction. With funding from public generosity they have set up free clinics, maternity homes, hostels for the old and sick, cure centres for drug addicts and a blood bank. The couple’s selfless courage and lack of political and social bias shine forth in this inspiring film.
Made in 1987 this film reflects the cultural attitudes of the country and language of the time it was made.
