A programme in three sections showing a Theatre in Education project which deals with a number of issues – racial prejudice, industrial strife, poverty etc., set against the background of the American Civil War. Part 1 is a short play (35 mins), part 2 is follow-up and research work led by the class teacher (16 mins)and part 3 the actors in role involve the children in challenges, dilemmas and resolution of events. Devised by the Pit Prop Theatre and performed in schools in the Manchester area. Brings alive this subject.”
