Uganda was the first country to receive debt relief. Now five million children are receiving free primary education, for the first time. Subsistence farmers benefit from free advice from agricultural experts, and there is a government funded scheme to give cows to poorer families.
With more income the family can eat healthier food, and the children can attend school. An immunisation programme going out to the community can be funded, and better health care, though there is still not nearly enough money for the people’s needs.
