Dr Helen Caldicott was a sufficiently authoritative figure in the anti-nuclear movement some 30 years ago for us to think it important for us to make this historic film available once again. Dr Caldicott warns us that time is running out, in this lecture on the danger of nuclear war. She traces the development of the bombs used on Japan, and compares them with the apocalyptic bombs now being produced. She outlines the immediate and long-range medical and environmental effects of detonating a single 20 megaton bomb. She also describes the planet in the aftermath of a nuclear war, contaminated by radiation and rampant with disease a world with few survivors. She urges us to act “You’re going to have to change the priorities of your life, if you love this planet”.

This film is of historical interest but the issues raised are still current. The picture quality is not up to today’s standards but is perfectly viewable.
