Description
Classic play by David Leland about the conflict between a family who want to educate their children themselves, and the education authorities. The family is shown at different stages, and finally when they are living in the country an inspector calls to see the boy. The kindly, but totally uncomprehending official is entertained by the little boy who drives him in an old van to a lake and takes him for a disastrous trip in a rowing boat. The result of his visit is predictable.
Made in 1985, this film reflects the cultural attitudes and language of the time it was made. The issues raised are timeless.
