Description
Foster carers describe their experiences and present some of the practical issues; social workers fill in the background details and emphasise the current demand. In five sections: about fostering generally, the children and their families, aspects of foster care (emotional needs, moving on, racial and cultural needs, and the effects on the foster carers’ personal lives), being part of a team, and final thoughts.
Made in 1991 this film reflects the cultural attitudes, social work procedures and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. But the issues raised are timeless.
