Description

Self-advocacy groups are groups of disabled people, including in many cases people with learning disabilities, who have united to press for their rights and services – a contrast to the usual situation whereby others campaign on their behalf. This American film shows some of the activities original group, People First of Oregon, which include the organisation of a convention of disabled people. There is a growing feeling in the UK that development of a similar philosophy would be a welcome step forward.
