A Positive Choice

A look at the UK’s care in the community programme back in the early 90’s.

Description

Care in the community – freedom charter or cheap option? Will disabled and elderly people still have the freedom to choose residential care? This film is the result of a two-year collaboration between North West Shape and a group of residents in a Wigan old people’s home. The participants began with a wish to make a positive statement about their way of life, hoping to counter the old ‘workhouse’ image. They did this and much more. An unusual production, with the subjects themselves having at all times determined the content. What emerges is, in every sense, their view of the world.

This programme can be rented on our Video on Demand system for £2.00, for this you can view as often as you like within a 48 hour period of your own choosing, the film is available to stream or download for £10.00.
