Description
Professor Michael Pentz, Dean of Science Faculty, Open University, and other scientists discuss and illustrate the new researc which shows that the effect on the climate of a nuclear war would be more devastating than the effects of the blast, heat and radioactivity. The aftermath of nuclear war would be a nuclear winter. In all out war, more than 1,000 million tons of dust would blot out the sun. Summer would turn to winter. Even in summer, the temperature would be below freezing point for many months, thus if it happened in spring no food at all would grow. Photosynthesis would cease. This combined with other long term consequences would mean that those who survived the actual war would die of starvation or cold.
The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards but is useful for historical use.
