Description
An interview with Tony Wedgwood Benn, the former Secretary of State for Energy. Examines the allegation that British civil servants have deliberately witheld information from ministers on a number of occasions and in doing so, are moving beyond democratic control. Mr Benn names specific examples, including incidents involving the theft of uranium, a nuclear catastrophe in the Soviet Union and refers to events during his own service in the British Labour Government.
This film made in 1980 reflects the political arrangements the time it was made and may not reflect modern processes. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards but is useful for historical use.
