There are over 50,000 young carers in Britain. This film looks at their role and the pressures faced by them – stress, sharing problems, missing school, impact on social life, attitudes of others etc. Developed in conjunction with the Princess Royal Trust for Carers. A case study looks at a typical day for 14 year old Lee and 12 year old Katherine who look after their mother and four year old brother. They and two other young carers, nine year old Gurdis and 12 year old Gurdat talk about some of the pressures they face. Ideas for action are also suggested.
