Description

World hunger, the energy crisis, the arms race – questions which have become common currency in today’s new bulletins. In 1975 Ronald Higgins wrote an article in the Observer Colour Magazine, looking beyond these immediate crises to what underlies them. The response changed his life – Identifying and researching six great threats to humanity, he now sought the greatest threat of all within himself – the seventh enemy – the human factor of apathy and inertia – which may bring our downfall. He published a book with the title of The Seventh Enemy and in this BBC “Everyman” film Ronald Higgins explains what the enemy is, and how he has chosen to live with this knowledge. It represents a turning point, not just for the author but for all who struggle to come to terms with these issues, and asks, “what can I do?”.
