Cot deaths: research implies that there is no one cause of these mystery deaths, but the question is to what degree babies at risk might be identified, so that some form of preventative safety net might be available to them. This seems to have been successful in Gosport, where the rate of deaths has been reduced from twenty cot deaths a year to three.
Made in 1984 this film reflects the cultural attitudes, medical procedures and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. But the issues raised are timeless.
