Description
Pope John Paul visited Nicaragua as part of a tour of Latin American countries. The film focuses on his visit but addresses the wider implications of the Catholic Church’s role in Latin America. Many people had looked to the Pope for a lead in condemning the corrupt right-wing dictatorship of El Salvador and Guatemala, and some kind of support for the beleaguered Sandanista government in Nicaragua. Despite the fact that many lay Catholics and priests are involved in the government of Nicaragua, the pope chooses to ignore their plight. Spanish with English sub-titles.
