The Ark is a drama project for people with learning disabilities, based at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell. In the summer of 1985 the Ark organised a unique Arts Festival, bringing together professional artists and people with learning difficulties in an ambitious collaborative project. The theme was Ancient Egypt, and the Festival embraced everything from jewellery to dance, mask-making to pottery, silk-screen printing to music. The video, made by the Media Centre at South Hill Park, documents the project in all its diversity. It shows how the imaginative use of arts activities can open up a whole new world both groups of people.
