Description
As demand for penicillin has increased over the last half century, it has become necessary to look for ways to produce it in increasingly large quantities. Looks at how penicillin works and how, in the laboratory and pilot plant, new penicillium strains are identified. Shows the scaling up process from laboratory to industrial plant, how penicillin is extracted and how contamination is monitored and controlled in the production process.
