Description
All kinds of groups and indviduals will find this four programme series useful and we hope inspire them to print their own ideas for themselves. The programmes will be useful for training sessions and group discussions for all sorts of contexts and organsations. All four programmes are included in this film.
‘Eden Grove’ in Holloway, North London is a woman’s literacy class which gradually developed into a writing group. Five years ago none of them could read or write but this film shows them writing, designing and offset printing their book. This programme has been made by an all women crew and was directed by Sue Crockford.
‘Sadsalad’ is a group of disabled and able bodied sportsmen and women in Southampton. To keep in touch they photo-copy their own newsletter. A group of members get together each month at their own editorial meetings. They write and layout their lively newsletter fitting in awful jokes where there is space. It was directed by Bill Gamon.
‘Environment Centre’ in Edinburgh is a resource centre where groups are shown how to design and produce their own leaflets using simple duplicating equipment. Three groups: Lothian Action, an unemployment project, Drylaw & Telford Community Council and Edinburgh Friends of the Earth do just that. They use the scanner and duplicators with coloured ink to produce well designed colourful leaflets and a magazine to help their campaigns. It was directed by Jack Shea.
‘Artivan’ is a mobile darkroom, design and screen printing unit that works throughout Carlderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield districts. In this programme they work with a group of women from a small mining village called Woollery Colliery printing T shirts and then a poster using screen printing. The programme has been made by a Steel Bank Film Co-op and was directed by Jessica York.
