Director Douglas Cole faced the issues personally as his daughter had cancer, and he was amazed by her strength and spirit, and how she came to terms with suffering. This film is of historical interest and reflects the cultural attitudes of the country in which it was made, medical procedures and language of the time it was made. But the issues raised are timeless.
