Description
Filmed in south-eastern China, this film follows the daily lives of three peasant families living in communes. This is, too, a unique first-hand account of what life has been like for people in China over the past fifty years – people like Mrs Ding, who describes how she faced starvation as a girl in the 1930’s, or Mr Zhu who recalls the terror of the Japanese occupation in 1937.
Made in 1983 this film reflects the cultural attitudes, medical procedures and language of the time it was made.
