Description

Portrait of a Palestinian family 1948-84. Abu-el was 20 when he was forced by Israeli troops to leave his village for a refugee camp in Gaza. Now where the village once stood the Israeli Minister of Trade and Industry owns a flourishing farm, which Abu-el passes on his way to Tel Aviv’s illegal labour market. The programme gives an intimate picture of the life of the family, their joys and sorrows and the curfews and killings at the camp. Points made in this Swedish made film – Interviews with Ariel Sharon, Jabalia refugee camp – UNRWA girls prep school. Although made some years ago, the issues are still relevant today.
