Description
Filmed in the war area of the north and east of Sri Lanka under hazardous conditions, this programme vividly portrays the effects of war on a people. It also analyses how the arms trade has militarised and Asia. Producers Nimal and Ranjar Mendis call this an anti-war film, and say “what we are trying to do is to make a better world – better society – for whom? For all, but chiefly for our children. Children today are fed on war games, toy weapons, violence on TV and in films glorifying war. When strife erupts in real life their minds are already conditioned. This is why we want to get through to people the utter horror of war and slaughter in which 90% of innocent people get caught up”.
This film is of historical interest but the issues raised are still current.
