Description
Save the Children first went to India in 1935, in the wake of a major earthquake, and continued to help in disasters such as the Bengal famine of 1943 and floods in the 1950s.
Now, emergency efforts have given way to long term development work. Save the Children supports thousands of disadvantaged and vulnerable children and their communities, working closely in partnership with some 45 local Indian organisations to help children from ethnic minorities or from low castle groups, and to build a better life for the children of landless migrants and refugees.
