Description
The Sandinista government of Nicaragua has achieved remarkable progress since the 1979 revolution with its campaigns on: Literacy, Health, Childcare, and Land Reform. But this is now Development under Fire. A US backed opposition, the “Contras”, are threatening Nicaragua’s development in a violent attempt to destabilise the Country. The film made with the assistance of War on Want and other British development agencies, gives the last picture of Nicaragua’s desperate situation. It questions the politics of international aid and looks at who is helping Nicaragua, and who is not. And, in particular, it asks: Why is Britain out of step with many of its European partners on a policy towards Nicaragua?
