Many thousands of mothers in Britain are lesbians and many lesbians are now mothers. Under the law as in 1984 lesson mothers risked losing their children, their lovers or their work. The women in this film felt it important to explore some of the relevant facts custody practices, the personal struggles within the family and how some lesbians are becoming mothers by means other than heterosexual intercourse. What emerges from the film is the strength and courage of al the women involved and the bigotry and outrageousness of what they were up against.
