Description

A documentary looking at attitudes and changes in an area of Kenya which is experiencing one of the world’s fastest rates of population growth. The film is based on research conducted by Prof. T Scarlett Epstein. It presents both the “objective facts” of population growth among the Maragoli as well as their “subjective perceptions” by different socio-economic strata. Moreover, it explains the different solutions sought by the people themselves to cope with increasing numbers. The presentation in striking, not only in the sheer beauty or it’s images, but also in the empathy with the rural people it portrays. Produced and directed by Sandra Nichols. 1976.
