Hypothetical couples with fertility problems are followed as they search for a chance to have a child. The programme explores options, such as the donation of sperm or ova, and surrogacy – where one woman bears a child for another who is unable to conceive. The legal and moral dilemmas posed by these options are also discussed. Among those taking part are infertility specialist Dr Bridgett Mason; Baroness Warnock DBE, chairman of the Committee on Human Fertilisation and Embryology; The Right Honourable Enoch Powell, Minister for Health 1960-1963 and attorney William Handel, a surrogate parenting specialist of Beverly Hills, California.
