The way parents and children negotiate separation and divorce is important for their subsequent well-being. An understanding of how divorce is experienced is essential for professionals who offer their services to divorcing couples and their families. The aim of this video is to illustrate how divorce is experienced in different and conflicting ways by one couple and their two adolescent children. Their conflicts and dilemmas, and the responses of professionals involved with them, are developed in six scenes. The video and teaching notes are designed for use in small training groups. The teaching material will be relevant to a wide range of professionals, parents and children directly or indirectly concerned with family breakdown and divorce.
